"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate." – Carl Jung
Born in the small town of Ambejogai in Marathwada, Maharashtra, raised in a traditional Marwari joint family, and shaped by middle-class values, I grew up believing that hard work and skills alone could navigate life. But through my own journey, I’ve learned that true success isn’t measured by titles, paychecks, or promotions. It’s about waking up each day eager to work and going to sleep with a sense of peace.
My career wasn’t a straight line—there were moments of experimentation, uncertainty, and feeling lost. But despite the doubts, I always felt that these stories were too important to be left untold. I was profoundly inspired by my grandfather, a freedom fighter who built a school for underprivileged children, and my father, who continued his legacy. They instilled in me the belief that giving back is an essential part of true success. Their journeys led me to question: Is success merely about individual achievement, or does it stem from something deeper?
As a psychologist, I began to notice how my own experiences mirrored those of many others. I met brilliant professionals who had "done everything right" yet still felt lost, trapped, or unfulfilled in their careers. It became clear to me that these crises weren’t inevitable—they were preventable. What if, instead of waiting for a crisis, we intentionally designed our careers from the very beginning? This thought pushed me further into my counseling work with students as early as Grade 9, guiding them not only on what career to choose but also on how to think about work, success, and fulfillment.
My curiosity continued to grow—how do people define success today? What makes them love their work? What allows them to feel at peace with their choices? In pursuit of answers, I interviewed 60 individuals—from presidential award-winning farmers in India to globally recognized artists—to understand what makes a career truly meaningful. Originally, these interviews were intended for a podcast that never materialized, but the stories they held were too powerful to be kept in the shadows. These were truths that needed to be shared, not just discussed in private conversations.
As I analyzed these stories, a pattern began to emerge—a set of insights that aligned with the 3D Career Framework I had already been using in my counseling practice. Their journeys confirmed what I had come to believe: a fulfilling career isn’t something you simply stumble upon; it’s something you actively design.
Though each person’s path is unique, this book offers a clear, structured approach to designing a career that aligns with who you truly are. It’s not about rigid formulas, but about practical strategies, insights, and lessons from those who have walked this path before.
The goal isn’t to chase someone else’s version of success, but to empower you with the tools to define and create your own.
